arlmet.archives.Archive.step#

Archive.step: ClassVar[Timedelta]#

The time between one time step and the next inside a file, as a pandas.Timedelta: the spacing of the file’s index records, the product’s own time resolution. It is not how much time one file covers (the file span). HRRR has a step of 1 hour and its files hold 6 time steps, a 6-hour block. NAM 12 km has a step of 3 hours and its files hold 8 time steps, 00:00 to 21:00 of a calendar day, so a file’s last time step is one step before the file’s end, and a run that reaches past 21:00 needs the next day’s file.
