stilt.execution.run_simulation(sim, *, skip_existing=True)[source]#

Run one simulation and copy its outputs into the project.

HYSPLIT runs when the trajectories are missing, or always when skip_existing is false. A from: variant reads its parent’s trajectories instead. When the variant has a grid, the footprint is computed if it is missing, and again whenever HYSPLIT ran, so a footprint always matches its trajectories. An empty footprint writes a .empty marker, which counts as complete. Errors are caught, written to the simulation log, and returned in the result.

Parameters:

  • sim (Simulation) – Simulation to run.

  • skip_existing (bool) – Keep trajectories and footprints that already exist.
